CINCINNATI, OH - Union Institute & University President Roger H. Sublett announced the appointment of Dejon Davis as regional dean of the university’s Sacramento Academic Center, one of five regional centers operated by Union Institute & University. Mr. Davis will provide leadership for budget development and management, student support services, compliance, facility management, management of faculty and staff, and delivery of quality instruction and related services for adult students seeking to complete their undergraduate degrees or earn degrees. He will also support student recruitment, retention, and enrollment management.
Mr. Davis replaces Dr. Charles F. Piazza who served as interim dean of the Sacramento Center, and continues to serve as special assistant to President Roger H. Sublett for strategic innovation and planning.
Vice President for Academic Affairs Dr. Nelson Soto said Mr. Davis brings extensive leadership and management experience to his new role. "Mr. Davis is a welcome addition to the Union family. He is an innovative leader with proven skills in higher education recruitment and enrollment knowledge, strong knowledge of marketing and outreach processes, team building and organizational management skills, and is a skilled communicator."
Mr. Davis comes to Union Institute & University from the University of California Davis, where he served as graduate program coordinator (2012-2013). He also was executive director of extended learning at National University (2011-2012), director of graduate admissions at Point Loma Nazarene University (2006-2011), and admissions counselor at University of Phoenix (2004-2006). He has also been a consultant and trainer at Davis Education Consulting Services since 2007.
Mr. Davis holds a bachelor’s degree in social science with a minor in organizational leadership from Chapman University and a master’s in education guidance and counseling from Point Loma Nazarene University. Mr. Davis is a doctoral candidate at Alliant International University in Higher Education Leadership and Management. His dissertation concerns the impact student supportive services have on the persistence graduation rates of ethnic minority students who attend private universities. Mr. Davis will complete his Ed.D. in the fall of 2014.
